This is the first article in what will be a three-part series discussing all of the factors which contribute to acne, as well as tips and recommendations to guide you toward fixing the problem permanently. This article, edition I, is simply a general overview of recommendations and tips to remedy mild-to-moderate skin issues. In editions II and III, I will further discuss topics such as digestion, food allergies, nutritional deficiencies, ph balance, hormonal issues and simple bad habits which all contribute to acne problems.
Please understand I am not a medical professional, nutritionist, licensed aesthetician, nor do I claim to be an expert on any topic. However, I have worked in the cosmetic industry for seven years, and have therefore worked with countless faces plagued with acne, in the age ranges of 12 to 70. I have also experimented with a multitude of products. Additionally, I have long had a passion for wellness and have therefore taken nutrition classes and read countless books which have contributed greatly to my research on the subject of skin issues.
I promise you this: What you are on the inside will most certainly affect what is seen on the outside. If you do suffer from acne, you are not doomed with it forever no matter how long you have dealt with it. There are solutions, and I would like to help you discover the ones which will work for you.
My Face Looks Like Mount Everest!
Arcona The Solution
This product is by far one of the most transforming, effective skin products I have used to date. Earlier this year, while examining my face in the mirror before bed, I noticed my skin was looking, for lack of a better word, “funky”. It appeared congested, bumpy and I had a small cluster of white heads on one side of my jawline. My immediate impulse was to slather a peel all over my face, however I quickly reminded myself that I had plans to go out the following night and did not want to deal with any skin flaking.
In the midst of my slight horror over my skin’s appearance, I rummaged through my arsenal of products and uncovered a a small bottle which an Arcona representative had given to me a couple of years prior at the opening of a Nordstrom store. This product was Arcona’s The Solution. I applied the product liberally onto my clean, bare skin. The transformation which took place over the following eight hours was nothing short of astounding. I have used countless peels, acid cleansers, toners, lotions, exfoliators, etc., yet I was still shocked by how well one application of this worked for me. When you work in the cosmetic industry, you receive many gifts and try countless products, particularly if you make friends with people who work for multiple product lines, which I have.
I awoke to completely different facial skin. I am not exaggerating in my claim, and I am certainly not receiving any money or incentives from Arcona to discuss this product. This product is unbelievable. Nearly 100 percent of my skin congestion was eradicated overnight. The size of the white heads on my jawline were reduced by at least 80 percent, if not more. My facial skin texture resembled that of an infant’s butt. Best of all, this product is 100% natural, containing mostly glycolic acid, quercetin (incredible for reducing inflammation) and pure essential oils.
MUAC’s Salicylic Acid Peel
If you are allergic to aspirin, do not use this product.
This peel contains a 15% concentration of salicylic acid, and is highly effective for oily, congested skin. It is especially effective for whiteheads. Additionally, it will give your skin an improvement in texture as well as a subtle boost of radiance.
Even if you are a teenager in the midst of puberty or a pregnant woman in your 30’s and your hormones are going bananas, this peel will greatly help to assist in keeping mild-to-moderate hormone-related acne issues completely under control.
Consecutive uses of this peel will greatly reduce your acne issues, however please be prepared for some skin flaking and peeling. Each time I have used this, my skin has peeled for a couple of days following. Do not use this product the day before prom, a date party, your wedding, a photo shoot, etc.

I Have an Unsightly Breakout of Craters On My Arms and Back!
Murad Acne Body Wash
This product contains a blend of salicylic and glycolic acids, and is simple yet effective. Upon recommendations in the past, I have tried various brands of african black soaps and body washes for body breakouts, but none of them were ever effective for me. The use of acids in skin products has helped my breakout issues more than anything else.
Salux Nylon Japanese Bath Towel
If you have already downloaded my free guide from the home page, you are likely familiar with this product. If not, allow me to educate you on one of the most important products you will ever purchase, particularly if you suffer from bumps on your arms, shoulders or back. For smooth, soft, flake-free and bump-free skin, you must purchase this gem to use in your shower. This towel delivers excellent results every time, and I believe it works better for me than any brush, poof, sponge or cloth ever has.
This towel exfoliates the skin perfectly, allowing any acid or acne-fighting cleansing product to work optimally. The long, rectangular and flexible shape allows me to reach my back with ease. I am fortunate to live in a city which hosts several asian markets, and am usually able to find this gem in stock at one of them. It is important to replace the towel regularly, and I typically purchase a new one every three months.
Maintain a Clean Pillow Case
You sweat when you sleep. If you are like me, you even drool on occasion. Additionally, if you go to bed with a mountain of makeup still on your face (which I admit I am guilty of from time to time, especially after a night out), you are creating a whole new set of problematic issues which will contribute to your face breaking out. So, wash your pillow case. If you have acne issues, wash it every other night. Just keep it clean.
Clean Your Phone to Prevent Cheek Breakouts
A very successful makeup artist, who also happens to be a friend of mine, burned this valuable lesson into my brain a long time ago. Keep your phone clean, and keep your greasy face and makeup off of it. In fact, it is wise to apply a tiny dot of hand sanitizer to the face of the phone and wipe with a tissue. I firmly believe that incorporating this simple trick into my daily habits has made a difference in reducing my cheek and jawline breakouts.
Choose Your Foundation Wisely
Stop using chemical-laden foundations, and step away from the mineral oil. If you have acne issues which you want to cover but do not want to make worse by covering, I have the perfect foundation recommendation for you:
Cover Fx Cream Foundation

Clean Your Brushes and Sponges
Take the time to clean your brushes. If you have acne, you must clean them after every single use. STAY TUNED FOR MY UPCOMING DIY BRUSH CLEANER VIDEO TUTORIAL. I have experimented with various recipes and methods for several years, and believe I have perfected it. Until then, here is a great recipe I have successfully used in the past.
