Welcome to the second edition of my series, which is devoted to sharing my personal experience with the practice of using essential oils (read Edition I here). Each time someone inquires about them, I nearly go into a state of panic from an overload of enthusiasm, for there is such an immense amount of valuable information to unload.
Essential Oils Are Life-changing.
I consider them a miracle for emotions, increasing productivity, releasing negative and stored memories, healing acute and chronic ailments, promoting an optimal level of fitness and much more. Male or female, newborn or nearing expiration; everyone is guaranteed to benefit from the use of them.

You Body Is Smart; Tune Yourself to Its Instruction
So often we forget that our bodies are designed to thrive and, ultimately, provide protection. It wants to feel as incredible as you want it to feel and, therefore, will constantly seek ways to achieve that. When we experience pain and illness, we often subscribe to the mindset that our bodies are angry or being uncooperative. The opposite is true.
For example, your internal temperature rises in order to protect you from infection. When you experience chronic aches, your body is communicating to you that its structure is out of alignment. It is simply sounding an alarm; alerting you that something is awry. It deserves to be heard.
Stop muffling its voice and disregarding its instruction. Stop interfering and start nurturing. Mostly, have faith in your body’s ability to guide you, for it is not in the business of playing games.
Also, remember that your body is unique and its needs are going to be different than mine. The purpose of sharing my list is to not only educate you about the oils mentioned, but mostly to inject you with belief in the practice of using essential oils in general. They possess the power to transform your health, your emotional and mental states and, ultimately, your life.
Every day we search for doses of miracles and magic, but evidence of them are often right in front of our faces. Below are a few of mine.

#1 Endoflex Essential Oil Blend
About six years ago, while nearing the end of college, I was diagnosed with mild adrenal fatigue. I was a cranky blend of sleepy, irritable, mopey and dopey. My body was producing too much cortisol at night and not enough in the morning. There were several instances of sleeping through an obnoxiously sounding alarm for a full hour or longer. At night, however, rest often eluded me. I’d stare at the ceiling fan – into the miserable abyss – for a torturous number of hours, oftentimes going to war with my pillow.
My body had been abused by the consumption of toxic food, excessive caffeine, relationship-induced stress and a hectic schedule of work, classes and happy hours. I have had to take extra special care of my adrenals ever since, and I will likely have to continue to do so for the rest of my life.
Endoflex is designed to nourish the entire endocrine system, and it has made a significant difference in my energy levels and overall feeling of well-being. I feel supported physically and emotionally.
Imbalance within the endocrine system often contributes to ailments including depression, weight gain, thinning hair, lowered immunity, leaky gut and much more.
I apply this directly to my adrenal glands (mid-back, above the kidneys), pineal gland (forehead), and I often take a drop or two under the tongue. Many people have reported recovery from thyroid issues with the use of this oil blend alone.
#2 Frankincense Essential Oil
Frankincense is truly a natural anti-depressant. It has an undeniably soothing and comforting effect on my emotional, mental and spiritual states. I feel an immediate shift within my being with every use and, therefore, add it to my diffuser often.
In the realm of vanity, Frankincense promotes beautiful skin. It has been praised for its ability to eliminate and prevent stretch marks, acne, rosacea, moles, skin tags and more. I add a couple of drops to a dime-size amount of marula oil (an excellent non-comedogenic carrier oil) and apply to my face each night before bed. I love smelling it as I’m drifting off to sleep.
#3 Grapefruit Essential Oil
This is my most beloved oil of all time. Simply opening the bottle and breathing in its scent provides me with energetic feelings of optimism. I feel hopeful, uplifted, productive – even inventive. It feels as though I’ve been injected with a dose of the sun.
Grapefruit essential oil is also incredibly supportive of the lymphatic system – the body’s trash dump – and is, therefore, excellent at eradicating cellulite and fatty deposits.
I add a few drops of grapefruit oil to my water daily, I diffuse it often and occasionally incorporate it into my DIY bath scrubs, body washes and creams. (I’ll have recipes for you in my upcoming downloadable essential oil guide.)
#4 Lemon Essential Oil
All hail the holy power of lemon essential oil. It cleans, disinfects, eliminates wretched smells, brightens mood, improves circulation, ejects parasites from your gut and makes friends with your liver. Almost everyone will benefit from the use of lemon. I add it to my water and smoothies, and it makes everything taste more delicious.
#5 Peppermint Essential Oil
Nothing eradicates a headache or brings feelings of calm and organization to a jumbled mind like a few drops of peppermint oil. For this reason, I often add it to my diffusing blends throughout the day.
Because peppermint oil is so therapeutic for digestion, I often add a couple of drops to my daily essential oil water concoction (a blend of grapefruit, lemon and peppermint)
Lastly, peppermint oil also helps my body release muscular tension. I often experience tension in my lower ribcage and back, and the direct application of peppermint oil (cut 50/50 with extra virgin coconut oil or another carrier oil) releases the tension within an hour.
I adore its cooling, uplifting effect on my body.
#6 Thieves Essential Oil Blend
This gingerbread-cookie smelling fountain of wellness in a tiny bottle is a faithful part of my day – from the moment I grab my toothbrush in the morning until I crawl into bed at night – every day. I add a drop to my coffee, diffuse it throughout my living room and office, and employ it to clean every visible square inch of my home. It is powerful enough to begin destroying mold on contact, and protects against illnesses.
Gone are the days of venturing through this moldy, rainy, sneezy, germ-infested world without my most trusted bodyguard – Thieves.
#7 Valor Essential Oil Blend
My husband is almost perfect. He has a few flaws, however, and chronic snoring is at the top of the list. It has long sounded like a farmhouse at 2 a.m. at The Johnson Residence – until recently.
Ladies and gentlemen, Valor is a miracle for snoring. It is also effective for teeth grinding as well as hushing the chatter of an overactive mind contaminated with thoughts of worry.
Most interestingly, Valor is said to be balancing and aligning to the spine and skeletal system. I was skeptical of this claim until I began to notice that my chiropractic adjustments suddenly became much more effective. Also, I no longer awaken with a sore jaw. I cannot deny its magic.
I apply Valor to the temples, jawline and spine.
